Singapore Math is Research Based
  1. Jerome Bruner: Bruner emphasized that effective learning moves from concrete experiences to pictorial representations and finally to abstract understanding, today we call that the CPA approach.
  2. Jean Piaget:  Piaget’s believed that children construct knowledge through experience and interaction, making abstract concepts easier to grasp through concrete examples.
  3. Lev Vygotsky: Vygotsky inspired the structured, incremental teaching approach, ensuring that learners tackle challenges within their capacity to grow.
  4. George Pólya: Pólya’s frameworks influenced the focus on heuristics and critical thinking in Singapore Math.
  5. Singaporean educators and curriculum developers: Researchers and educators in Singapore's Ministry of Education, such as Dr. Kho Tek Hong, responsible for the creation of the bar model, played a pivotal role in adapting and synthesizing global educational theories into a practical, effective math curriculum. Dr. Kho is the leading author of Primary Mathematics 2022
